Description
Buddy was a talented writer and musician in the late 50’s releasing 35 recordings before his death in a plane crash at the age of 22. His entire career lasted onlt two years, 1957 and 1958. Buddy Holly and the Crickets were the first self-contained rock-n-roll group that wrote and performed their own songs. He wrote his own material, exploited studio technology & employed the now classic line-up of two guitars, bass, & drums. Paul McCartney has the British publishing rights to all of Buddy’s material. He is a member of the Rock-n-roll Hall of Fame & the Songwriters Hall of Fame. Rolling Stone Magazine ranked him #13 in its list of “100 Greatest Artists.” He was a major influence on the Beatles, the Hollies, Eric Clapton & the Rolling Stones who’s first hit was Buddy’s “Not Fade Away.” His death was immortalized in Don McClean’s “American Pie” as “the day the music died.”
